Correcting Severe Dental Problems At Your Time Dental Urgent Care

Each separate restorative and cosmetic dentistry procedure performed in Tampa can address a specific dental problem. For example, a porcelain veneer can correct the surface of a tooth that is discolored or slightly misshapen. Dental bonding can fill a small chip in an otherwise healthy tooth.

Some Gibsonton dental problems are more extensive and require a combination of procedures. Crown restoration combined with soft tissue grafts can restore a severely decayed tooth with the root exposed. A bone graft and dental implant can restore a missing tooth in an area where the jaw bone has receded. Orthodontia followed by tooth bleaching totally transforms a smile by straightening and whitening.

What is the difference between tooth bleaching and whitening? Whitening is the term for procedures which remove surface stains to restore the degree of natural lightness. Bleaching goes even further by lightening teeth beyond their natural shade. That’s right: you don’t have to resign yourself to yellow teeth even if they have been that way your whole life! The natural shade of your teeth, by the way, like your skin and hair color, is determined by genetics.

Some Gibsonton smiles have been gleaming for years by regular whitening. You can maintain the whiteness of your teeth just as you maintain your fitness level. (Of course, it is a lot easier to make a quick visit to your Gibsonton dentist once a year for whitening touch-ups than sweating in a gym several times a week!)

We live in an age where severe dental problems can be permanently corrected. You don’t have to participate in a TV makeover show in Hollywood to access these premium cosmetic dental procedures. They are available right here in Gibsonton, Apollo Beach and Fish Hawk. Richard Kernagis has the same advanced training and extensive experience as the dentists who keep the smiles of famous actors and musicians camera-ready.

Do Veneers Make Teeth Look Bigger?

Apollo Beach cosmetic dental and tooth implants

A well-designed veneer does not make your tooth look larger – unless you want it to. A veneer can correct many cosmetic dental problems and is a minimally invasive restoration. During the placement of some porcelain veneers, an extremely thin layer of enamel is removed from the tooth.

If you have teeth with damage, discoloration, an irregular shape or minimal to moderate misalignment, you have several dental remedies to choose from. Don’t worry if you feel that veneers seem to have more cons than pros for you. You have alternative options. We can analyze your smile, your needs, and your goals to develop a perfect plan.

Your Time Dental Urgent Care offers the highest standard of dental care and the full spectrum of vital services including:

sedation dentistry
cosmetic dentistry
urgent dental care
dental implants
emergency dental care

Your Time Dental Urgent Care has been improving smiles since 2001. We’ve scheduled Fish Hawk patients for sedation dentistry. We’ve served patients from Lithia with emergency same-day dental care. We’ve performed popular procedures like urgent dental care for our patients in Apollo Beach. And we can advise you on any restorative, preventative, or cosmetic procedure in which you are interested.

Ask us about invisible braces, the cost of a dental bridge, or how long it takes to whiten your teeth.

With our busy schedules, we don’t want a long wait to see the dentist. Dr. Richard Kernagis’s team schedules carefully so we can keep your consultation convenient, pleasant, informative, and thorough. Our staff is comfortable and equipped to do it right.

Look Younger By Straightening Your Teeth

invisible braces for adults Gibsonton

Today’s message is for individuals in their golden years who want to improve their smile by straightening their teeth.

There are many advantages to retirement. Waking up whenever you dang well please. Time to devote to your favorite hobbies or humanitarian causes. Traveling. Grandchildren.

Braces Aren’t Just For Teens

It’s not all a picnic, however. Many older men and women have health issues, limited mobility, and financial concerns. Though some issues can’t be avoided, others can. Crooked teeth, for instance.

Could Your Smile Benefit From Adult Braces?

Orthodontics can fix all types of tooth alignment issues. Overbite? Gap between your two front teeth? Crowded teeth?

With modern orthodontics at Your Time Dental Urgent Care, older men and women can have a phenomenal smile that looks as young as they feel.

Let’s explore some orthodontic options.

Self-ligating Braces

Traditional braces have brackets and an archwire. The brackets are mounted to the teeth and the archwire is attached to the brackets. With self-ligating braces, the archwire is connected to the brackets with a spring clip. This replaces the plastic color band necessary with traditional metal braces.

Invisalign

Invisalign uses clear aligners instead of metal or ceramic brackets. With Invisalign aligners, you switch aligners every couple of weeks as your teeth gently shift into place.

How can straightening crooked teeth benefit you in your golden years?

We all know that a pleasing smile improves one’s appearance. Everyone wants to look more attractive. However, the benefits aren’t purely aesthetic.

  • You are less likely to snore if your teeth are aligned properly
  • They feel good when you rub your tongue over them!
  • You are less likely to experience gum disease
  • Straight teeth can prohibit cavities
  • You are less likely to feel tooth pain due to displacement or misalignment

Braces + Tooth Implants for a Complete Smile Makeover

Regardless of your age, it is not too late to improve your smile–even if you have some missing teeth. Braces combined with dental implants can transform a smile.

If you would like to discuss teeth straightening, I invite you to schedule an adult braces consultation by calling 813-519-0128.

Sparkling Smiles With Safe Bleaching in Gibsonton and Lithia FL

affordable teeth bleaching Gibsonton

One of the easiest ways to improve your smile cosmetically is through teeth whitening. Whitening teeth is a fairly simple, non-invasive method to improve your overall appearance and bring confidence to your daily interactions with people.

Before beginning the procedure of teeth whitening, Your Time Dental Urgent Care recommends each patient meet with their dentist for a consultation. A dental consultation will help you determine which whitening method is best for you. We can also discuss foods and habits, such as smoking, that you can avoid to keep your teeth whiter longer.”

While visiting with your dentist, you can also discuss other aspects of your smile you would like to improve. New, innovative technology provides methods to correct any dental problem you may have.

During your consultation, decide just how white you want your teeth to be. Depending on the whitening technique chosen, your teeth can be enhanced three to eight shades in just an hour. An in-office procedure produces a degree of lightening that cannot be achieved with a grocery store product. During your treatment, your dentist may apply a coating to protect your gums and roots while the bleaching agent is applied. A laser is then used to make the bleach work faster.

An alternative protocol is to have your dentist prescribe a take-home kit. These kits are customized for each patient. First a mold is made of your teeth. Using the mold, the lab team creates trays to hold the bleach. While this method may take longer, it is more cost-effective and more convenient for many Gibsonton patients. Teeth whitening results from either method can last from six months to two years.

It is important to know that whitening does not affect existing fillings, veneers, or crowns. It also is temporary and may require follow-up visits to keep them white.

You Be The Judge

smile makeover cost Gibsonton

If you are researching cosmetic dental smile makeovers, you have probably heard claims that cosmetic dentistry can provide you with a ‘perfect smile’ or a ‘celebrity smile.’ Are these superlatives simply exaggerations? We invite you to judge for yourself.

Call 813-519-0128 to schedule a no-pressure smile makeover consultation with Dr. Kernagis of Your Time Dental Urgent Care. You can discuss your smile makeover goals and see before and after photographs of actual patients. Dr. Kernagis can show you what your new smile could look like.

A smile makeover involves multiple procedures which may include the following:

Tooth Implants

A dental implant is a metal (usually titanium) rod implanted into the bone to replace the missing root of a tooth that has been extracted. The crown and supporting structure are securely attached to the post.

Orthodontia

Orthodontic alternatives include traditional metal or ceramic braces, ‘behind-the-teeth’ (lingual) braces, and clear aligners.

White Fillings

If you had cavities in the past, you may have old amalgam fillings. White fillings match your surrounding teeth, dramatically beautifying your smile without crowns.

Dental Crowns

There are many different kinds of crowns that serve different purposes. We carry out an intensive examination to ensure the crown you get is perfect for you and your smile.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays/onlays are indirect fillings, which means that they are fabricated in a lab and placed whole on the tooth. A traditional direct filling is applied to the tooth while the material is malleable and then shaped by the dentist. Where possible, an inlay or an onlay can be a less-invasive substitute for a complete crown.

Composite Veneers

Veneers can repair chips, cracks, minor tooth misalignment, tooth discoloration, unattractive tooth shape, and disproportionate tooth size.

Teeth Whitening

There is nothing like an extraordinary white smile to give you ultimate confidence.

Dental Bonding

Dentists use bonding to fix tooth problems caused by decay, chips, or cracks. Large spaces between healthy teeth can be filled with bonding material, and bonding can safeguard tooth roots if the gums have receded.

Enamel Shaping

Just one slightly misshapen tooth can downgrade the aspects of a smile even if all the other teeth have a winning appearance.

Gum Contouring

If you have a gumline that is too low or too high and detracts from the presentation, gum contouring can reshape the gumline and beautify your smile.

‘Perfect smiles’ are possible—but don’t just take our word for it. Come see our smile gallery and judge for yourself.

Aching Jaw?

Aching Jaw In Gibsonton?

Hi. I’m Dr. Richard Kernagis, and today in the Gibsonton dentist blog, I want to look at some of the conditions that may result in jaw pain.

Jaw pain may be caused by sinusitis. Sinusitis is the inflammation of the tissues that line your sinuses, and when these tissues are inflamed, the sinuses exert pressure on surrounding areas. If the inflamed sinus is near the jaw, pain in the jaw joint may result. This commonly happens with a cold or allergies.

Many of my Tampa patients who come to me with jaw pain have some type of dental issue, such as an infection, or a problem in the temporomandibular joint (also known as TMJ).

The source of jaw pain can easily be identified at your Tampa dental office, and treatment can begin from there. But remember, jaw pain shouldn’t be ignored.

If you are looking for quality dental care around the Apollo Beach, Fish Hawk, or Lithia areas, please consider Your Time Dental Urgent Care. I am located in Tampa and have been serving the greater Tampa area since 2001. If you have any questions about oral health or cosmetic dentistry procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, or dental implants, give us a call today at 813-519-0128.

Your Time Dental Urgent Care offers:

urgent dental care
emergency dental care

Repair Chipped Teeth With Bonding

Gibsonton fix chipped tooth

A cosmetic dentist’s toolkit is filled with useful tools for fixing most types of cosmetic tooth problems. In the past few years, porcelain veneers, dental implants, and same-day teeth whitening have drawn a lot of publicity.

Dental Bonding

In today’s post, we are going to talk about an effective, yet relatively uncelebrated dental treatment that has been used successfully for decades. We’re talking about dental bonding.

The dental bonding procedure uses a resin material that is durable and natural looking. It is applied to the teeth while soft and putty-like, and then hardened (or cured) with a special light. The material bonds with the tooth and can then be shaped and polished.

Bonding Fixes a Variety of Problems

Dentists use bonding to repair tooth dilemmas caused by decay, chips, or cracks. Large spaces between healthy teeth can be filled with bonding material, and bonding can safeguard tooth roots if the gums have shrunk.

Discolored teeth can also be lightened with bonding. Since bonding material is easily molded, teeth can be lengthened or re-shaped to blend appropriately with the other teeth. Because of the versatility, bonding is generally used as part of a total smile transformation.

We Are Accepting New Patients

If you live in the Gibsonton area and are seeking quality cosmetic dental care or have cosmetic dentistry questions, please call my office at 813-519-0128.
